How to record your screen without creating an account

Most screen recorders demand a signup before you can record anything. YoRecord does not - open it, record, download. No email, no account, nothing to delete afterwards.

The short answer

Yes - with YoRecord you can record your screen without creating an account. Open yorecord.com/recorder in Chrome, Edge, or Firefox, hit record, then download the MP4 when you stop. Recording and processing happen locally in your browser, so there's no email, password, or profile to set up first. Free exports are capped at 10 minutes and carry a small watermark.

Most screen recorders gate you behind a signup form before you ever see a record button. Loom requires an account. Tella requires a profile. Screencastify requires a Google login. If you need one video - a bug report, a job application walkthrough, a quick how-to for a colleague - creating an account is friction that has nothing to do with your actual goal. If you're on Loom specifically and thinking about leaving, here's what switching actually involves.

the one that doesn't

YoRecord is a browser-based screen recorder that skips the account step entirely: open it, hit record, download - no email or password involved. It works in Chrome, Edge, or Firefox. No install prompt, no profile page, nothing to delete later.

Without an account, the video file never touches a server - WebAssembly handles recording and processing locally on your device. You record, you download, you leave. For a closer look at what stays on-device and what doesn't, see our screen recorder privacy breakdown.

how to record your screen without an account

Recording without an account takes four steps: open the page, choose what to capture, record, then download - no signup screen anywhere in between.

  1. Open yorecord.com/recorder in Chrome, Edge, or Firefox

No install prompt. No download dialog. The recorder loads in your current browser tab.
  2. Choose what to capture

Select your full screen, a specific application window, or a single browser tab. Optionally add your webcam as an overlay and turn on your microphone.
  3. Record, then stop when you're done

Click Go and recording starts immediately. Stop it whenever you're done. Free recordings run up to 10 minutes - enough for a bug clip, a product walkthrough, or a job application video.
  4. Download the MP4 to your device

When you stop, your video is ready. Hit Download and the file goes straight to your device. No account prompt at the end, no paywall.

what you can and can't do without an account

Without an account you still get recording, webcam overlay, subtitles, and download - the only thing you lose is long-term cloud hosting of the video.

What an account does and doesn't unlock
FeatureWithout an account
Screen recordingYes
Webcam overlayYes
AI subtitles (auto-generated)Yes
Download as MP4Yes
Max recording duration10 min (free tier)
Keep video hosted long-termNo

The recorder works fully without signing up for every core use case. Share links expire after 31 days whether or not you pay, so an account would not buy you a permanent cloud library anyway. If you're sharing via download or a link you can generate without signup, you don't need one. See the full free online screen recorder feature set for more.

faq

A few more specifics people ask before they try it:

Do any screen recorders work without an account?

Yes. Most browser-based recorders put a signup form between you and the record button, but YoRecord's no-signup recorder skips that step entirely - open the page, record, and download. There's no profile to create and nothing to delete when you're done.

Does my recording get uploaded anywhere if I don't have an account?

No. Without an account, capture and processing happen entirely on your device using WebAssembly - the video file never reaches a server. The one exception is AI subtitles: generating them sends just the audio track to Groq's Whisper API for transcription, and only if you turn that feature on.

Can I share a recording without signing up?

Yes. Download the MP4 and send it however you'd share any file - email, Slack, Google Drive. An optional share link is also available without an account, for when a URL is easier to send than an attachment.

Is there a time limit on recordings made without an account?

Free recordings are capped at 10 minutes, which covers most bug reports, walkthroughs, and short application videos. That cap is the same with or without an account - creating one doesn't raise it.

What happens to my recording after I close the tab?

If you didn't download or share it, it's gone - there's no account tied to it and no copy sitting on a server. No persistent identity also means no automatic backup, so download your file before you close the tab.
